How to Clean & Repurpose Your Soy Wax Candle Jar Into the Perfect Stash Jar (and More!)

One of the best things about our HiDEA luxury soy candles—besides the scent and surprise inside—is the beautiful matte black jar you’re left with once your candle is finished. Don’t toss it! With just a little cleanup, it can be repurposed into the ultimate stash jar, or reinvented into something totally new like a chic makeup brush holder, pen organizer, or mini planter. 

Here’s how to clean out your candle jar the easy way and get it ready for its next life.

🌿 Step 1: Choose Your Cleanup Method

You’ve got two easy options depending on your vibe and how quickly you want to reuse the jar.

🔥 Hot Water Method

1. Boil water and carefully pour it into the jar, leaving a little room at the top.

2. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes. The remaining wax will melt and float to the surface.

3. Once cool, pop the wax out and discard (or reuse it in a wax melt warmer!).

4. Gently wipe the inside with paper towel.

 

❄️ Freezer Method

1. Pop your jar in the freezer for a few hours or overnight.

2. The cold will shrink the wax, making it easier to break and remove.

3. Use a spoon or butter knife to gently lift out the chunks.

4. Discard or save for reuse.

✨ Step 2: Final Clean

To remove any leftover wax residue or scent:

Add a bit of rubbing alcohol to a cloth or paper towel and wipe down the inside and outside of the jar.

Wash with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly.

Now your jar is clean, scent-free, and ready to repurpose!
